Justin Wyatt is the founder of J.R. Wyatt Law in New York and has dedicated more than 15 years
to high-stakes litigation, with a focus on civil rights, personal injury, complex litigation, and
athlete advocacy. A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Justin has built his practice
around the principle of pursuing justice with integrity, preferring to stay out of the spotlight while
working tirelessly for meaningful results.
He is widely recognized for his work on the landmark NFL Concussion Settlement, where he has
represented former players suffering from long-term neurological conditions, including dementia,
Parkinson’s disease, and ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). His
representation goes beyond the courtroom—he assists clients with medical diagnoses, evidence
gathering, and navigating the settlement’s often difficult administrative requirements.
Justin has also played a central role in addressing systemic inequities within the Settlement. He was
instrumental in challenging the controversial use of “race norming,” a practice that relied on
different cognitive benchmarks for Black players, limiting their access to compensation. His
advocacy helped bring national awareness to the issue and was key to reforming the claims
process, ensuring greater fairness and equity for all retired players.
In addition to representing individuals, Justin serves on the Lawyer Committee of the NFL
Concussion Settlement Player Advocacy Committee (PAC). This committee works to identify
barriers that players face, develop best practices for representation, and promote higher standards
across the legal community serving retired athletes. His leadership in this area reflects both a deep
knowledge of the Settlement and a commitment to systemic change.
Justin’s work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street
Journal, Thomson Reuters, and other national outlets. Yet, despite this recognition, he remains
steadfastly humble, measuring success not by publicity but by the tangible outcomes achieved for
those he represents.
At the heart of his career is a simple guiding belief: that the role of an attorney is to stand for what
is right, to challenge unfair systems, and to provide real results for people whose voices may
otherwise go unheard
